Here’s what’s happening

Experts have predicted that Cragen will appear on the evening as part of Cardigan’s annual Giant Lantern Parade on Friday 7 December. She will be seen from The Strand and Cardigan Castle grounds.

7pm Cragen: an illuminated appearance on the River Teifi

Small World Theatre is delighted to announce another creative and imaginative Giant Lantern Parade on 7 December at 7pm thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund. In its third year, this winter celebration promises to be bigger and brighter.

Cardigan’s community is invited to join a Lantern Making Workshop in the run up to the event. Details can be found here and please BOOK your places.

Small World Theatre is working with Visit WalesYear of the Sea theme for the town’s third annual lantern parade. Year of the Sea has inspired hundreds of events across Wales adding to the economy and highlighting the achievements of environmental organisations such as Keep Wales Tidy, Clean Seas Wales, National Trust Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks Authority and many more.

Expect hundreds of small boat lanterns sailing alongside large fish lanterns heading along Cardigan’s High Street, down St Mary’s Street, along The Strand and finishing in the grounds of Cardigan Castle. The procession will be led by giant sea creature lanterns created by Small World Theatre artists. There will be music and merriment along the way.

Small World Theatre will begin the Parade at Pendre leaving at 7pm and finish in the grounds of Cardigan Castle. Spectators can join us on the High Street with many of the shops opening late for Christmas shoppers, or in the Castle grounds where there will be delicious food supplied by Kitchen 1176, local producers and entertainment.

Small World Theatre’s mythological sea monster Cragen will make her last appearance this year. The giant 20m long puppet headed Visit Wales’ Coast Alive Summer campaign and toured Wales with a #cleanseas message. Find out more about her and her ‘sighting’ Cragen in Cardigan.

Lantern structures are made from sustainably grown willow and tissue paper. They are not sky lanterns and are made by the community to be enjoyed at home after the Parade.
